The Lilac-UV lighting system mitigates the spread of germs and viruses through strategically-placed lamps that efficiently disinfect surfaces throughout the cabin, even when occupied by passengers during flight. 

A rapid reset of clean

A Lilac-UV array of lights throughout the cabin could disinfect surfaces in seconds to minutes depending on configuration, attacking bacteria and viruses including the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes COVID-19.  

This creates peace of mind for passengers who expect a higher level of hygiene, allowing operators to reduce aircraft downtime spent manually cleaning.

Powerful yet safe application around passengers 

Lilac-UV uses Far-ultraviolet (Far-UV) lighting, which is highly effective in inactivating viruses and pathogens. Far-UV lighting has been implemented in other high traffic areas including hospitals, senior living centers, and attractions like the Space Needle in Seattle, Wash.

Smart application inside the cabin

The Lilac-UV system will be available in new cabins or retrofittable to existing interior spaces throughout the cabin, cockpit and cargo areas. Lilac-UV is especially suitable for placement in high traffic interior areas such as lavatories and galleys. Lavatory application would allow for rapid disinfection between passenger use. 

During flight, lights placed in passenger seating areas are controlled by an intelligent system which cycles row by row, ensuring disinfection through the entire cabin. Passengers would experience an enhanced perception of hygiene due to the technology’s persistent presence and sensory awareness. 

Intelligent operation

Lilac-UV’s intelligent controller automatically adjusts to limit power consumption. Smart controls allow crew members to monitor and adjust intensity and schedule, as well as select manual treatment locations.
